About Merchant Kitty
Hi, I am Charlotte Crowder. I am a freelance artist and web designer living in Oklahoma City, OK. I have been working with computer graphics since 1993 and designed my first web site in 2000. Computers and the internet have come a long way since then. It is hard not to think about its history over the last decade, and it exciting to develop along with it!
I love creating and organizing ideas and I love the challenge of taking someone else's concept and building around it. Just give me a theme and turn me loose!
You may have noticed a mixture of genres in what I do. I have tried to layout my skills in three categories: Web Design (which includes graphic art), Freelance Art (which is all the "real life" stuff I make or build), and Social Art (which is classes or parties designed to teach others art techniques). All three center around a common motto, that every person has unique ideas and to help them realize their ideas in the world around them. I love to find solutions that fit the problem exactly. An "almost fit" is not good enough.
I also love to share ideas. Some things are just too easy and wonderful to keep to yourself. There are some great tools out there that nearly anyone can use and get professional perfect results every time. I love taking someone who says, I am not artistic," putting these tools in there hand and at the end hear them say, "I made that!" I know how good it makes me feel to see my own hands succeed, and it feels good to help others feel that success.
My life is not all business. I am a cancer survivor (stage IV melanoma in 2007) that's a long story I hope to get posted on my blog "Therefore Choose Life" at life.merchantkitty.com. I am also a home schooling mother of the five best kids in the world (you may have heard of us!) They are ages 7 to 15. And I have a dear husband who is supportive and encourages me to be as creative as I need to be (even though that may not always be good for his pocket book!)
Last but not least, the reason that I am here today still breathing: (forgive me for a little name dropping here) my greatest friend / mentor is the Lord Jesus Christ, who has been my savior since 1985. He truly makes life worth living, and I don't mean to sound cheesy saying that. The truths of His Word are inspirational and help me face day after day. Without Him, I would have moved to Oregon and put myself out of my misery long ago! He keeps my chin up. Check out my blog for awesome stuff I collect from Him at devotionals.merchantkitty.com
